I am wanting to run stock tires (235/75 R15, in this case) on 15 by 8 rims that currently have 32x11.5s on them. Are the rims too wide?the tire makers all say you need a minimum of 7.5" wide wheel for those tires, but mine looked good on stock wheels. I also wore out one set of 295s on those rims. On 17x9 i would probably go with 265 or 275 or even 285. No didnt get a chance to go to Speedway, had class that mourning.Yup, backspace (and wheel width is critical). Plus your body to frame/axle measurement may vary a bit from side to side as mine did. I could not fit 255/15s on my rear with 4" backspace with 8.5" wheel width (early American racing wheels had 1/2 inch increment wheel widths). I also had tire rub on one side with 235/15s even with a rolled fender.
