It is the fuel that lubricates the fuel pump and also cools the pump, and when you have neither, what you get is a fule pump that doesn't work as it should. Or you could still have some air in the system. You should be 5-6000 psi while cranking.The problem is this, last June a 2015 GMC had a cp4 pump failure. The dealer and separate shops quoted around $12k so we waited. Just before Christmas another truck that we had deleted for several months blew the engine so we decided to use the parts for the truck that had the cp4 failure. Also bled the schraeder valve at the front of the motor. The truck cranks and sounds fine but will not start. I am thinking the fuel system is airbound. I have a P0193 code for fuel rail high pressure sensor signal high. I have read that this can be caused by low or no fuel as well. I do not smell fuel or see any black smoke while cranking.
