I have had nerve damage since '96 due to vertebrae rubbing on my spinal cord. The left side of my body was affected by damage more than my right side. Limited machines (I believe) are a purely mechanical pto, slipping and then not slipping seems to me that it could potentially be linkage related. Replace the spring, and check out the rest of the linkage. There should also be some adjustments that can be made related to pto clutch engagement as well.
