Dec 31, 2018 · I have shot the BH 77gr otm, IMI 77gr and the Magtech 77gr through 3 or 4 gas guns and my bolt gun. Of the three the BH is the most consistent and accurate. The IMI and Magtech group about the same, usually .25 worse then BH. The IMI runs hotter then BH and the Magtech is close to the same as BH.Chronograph...Competition Electronics ProChrono Digital Chronograph .... Velocities measured 15 ft from muzzle...Temp. 82-88 degrees... Elev. approx. 232 ft. The Chrono is not the best, but has proven to show repeatable results from the same lot of GECO and Fed. The 77gr. 5.56 round will still fragment at velocities less than 2100 fps. A much more realistic threshold for reliable fragmentation with the 75-77 grain OTM loads is 2,250 FPS. From your 10.5" barrel, this will give you a fragmentation range of approximately 48 yards.In my guns, the most consistently accurate .223 /5.56 75-77 gr factory ammo I've tested is the Hornady Black 75 gr, followed by the Magtech 77, and Freedom 77. IMI 5.56 77 can also shoot sub moa, but it can sometimes shoot inconsistently and is a considerably hotter load than anything else, so needs a different zero.
