Ignition barrel removal
Posted November 26, 2017. If there is no special tool to remove, i would use a dremel to put a slot across the head of the bolt and then use a flat blade screwdriver to remove. If that doesnt work, dremel the head of the bolt off totally, remove the ignition barrel and then remove the exposed bolt threads with mole grips.My concern is,with smart lock smart sheild would i have promblems when replacing ignition barrel, ECU wont register to start with new ignition barrel ? cheers, 23-12-2007, 01:49 PM #2: EvilChief. Put the key in the ignition on setting 1 (first click) then look underneath the steering, view the barrel shaft which should be horizontaly, you should see a small hole. get something to poke in that hole IE allen key, then the barrel should pop out. But now, the housing mechanism is stuck in OFF position with the steering column lock in UP position.
