The sweet spot for full damage on a halberd is where the blade swings. Too close and you take 1/2 to 1/3 damage. Trade swings that close and see if you outdamage them. You probably will if you have similarly leveled gear. There is one issue with the last tip there tho, Syan's Halberd 2hR1 can sweet spot even up close.That black knight is the only one who drops it pre-kiln. And he does NOT respawn. However, once you get to the kiln, there is a halberd knight that does respawn that you can farm. If you really want that halberd early, grab the covetous gold ring and a bunch of spare humanity and hope for the best. I'm just a little less than sane.

To that end - my ranking is such: Low-tier: - Giant's Halberd (needs big stats, weight of a small sun) - Titanite Catch Pole (Can't be buffed, outclassed by Gargoyle halberd and Scythe) Mid-tier: - Lucerne (has a wind-up animation with 1h/2h r1)If you just swing at the air, you stumble.
