1. Remove the shaft and bend the joint far enought out of the straing position to expose the grease fitting, or maybe jack the UTV up and hope that the droop in suspensiong will provide just enough clearance to get at the fitting, or maybe 3 replace the OEM 45 degree zerk with a 90 degree zerk so its tip is accessible.1) remove the straps that hold the Ujoint to the side yoke. 2) do same for the outer flange (near spindle) 3) remove half shaft. 4) re-grease them (I can't reach the zerts without removing it ) 5) reverse process to re-install them.Over time, u-joints can become contaminated with dirt, debris, and moisture, which can cause corrosion and wear. May 18, 2018 · To align the front zerk with the hole, I insert a standard sized flat blade screwdriver in the rear ujoint, and use the screwdriver as leverage to slowly align/rotate the driveshaft to get at the front zerk. fyi, for those of us who own 4x2's, there are no zerks grease fittings. ive been having the common binding u-joint and thud while at a stop.
