I have a 71 FJ40 SOA SR and my shackle angle is ~45 deg which seems great but on my 81 CJ7 SUA, SR (done by the previous owner), the angle is at 32 deg and I had to install bumpstops to keep the shackle from going completely flat on the frame and sticking. FJ springs are 2-3/4" wide, pickup springs are 2-3/8" wide, could be spaced out to work. But, the kicker though is that the shackle hanger is ~3/4" wider than the spring, so about 3.5" wide. Put a 1" block between the frame and leaf spring on the shackle end. Install axle and lower full weight onto springs. Mock up shackle for approximately 45 degree angle. Mark frame side for shackle tube, drill, and install shackle tube.
