I reckon reckon is right. For example, PPG Omni MP170 epoxy primer IS a 2 part primer. That is a 1 coat not sandable PRIMER. Now if you want a filler primer on top of the epoxy primer to hide the marks, you get the MP182 surfacer primer that you sand. That is 2 part also. You definately should seal over any type of self etch primer, self etch primers are a 1K product that will saturate with solvent given the chance. Some self etch primers also serve as a surfacer but definately seal before paint. Epoxy primer is a better way to go, the benifits are plenty and the disadvantages are few.Mar 23, 2011. #3.
