I have never given any attention to the chime when starting the truck. The slip and VDC light sometimes are related to a low brake fluid level. Other times it's due to steering angle sensor. If the dealer tech didn't show me in person I'd have laughed at him. Sounds like a similar scenario to what I experienced here. VCD & Slip light would come on under hard acceleration coupled with abrupt loss of power. Light would stay on until restart. Most likely when you disconnected the battery you cleared the G-Sensor and Steering Angle sensor calibrations.
